Advocacy is Just a Text Away
We loved having a doula, and absolutely loved Meka. She meshed very well with us and our personalities and was very helpful in terms of informing us of our options and the pros and cons of all things considered in a birth plan.
We felt a lot of comfort in knowing that we could text or call her any time with questions or concerns, and she was always very responsive. I really appreciate that she never pushed any choices or options, she simply explained why some families choose more natural processes and why some families choose medical interventions and helped us to distinguish what made the most sense to us and aligned with our values.
Also, she was very supportive in communicating that with a birth plan. She let us know that sometimes things don’t go according to plan and it’s good to be flexible and know all of the pros and cons for that reason – if things don’t go as planned, we knew what that could mean for our delivery and for the baby. Since our birth didn’t go quite as planned, that really helped us be prepared to choose secondary options that didn’t make us feel disappointed.
We were very happy with Meka and hope that we can work with her again in the future as we plan to have more children, especially after the experiences with this birth not going according to plan we feel like she helped us with what to expect and what to ask the medical team to do or not do next time.
