The Kith & Kin Program uplifts Family, Friend, and Neighbor (FFN) caregivers – the trusted adults who nurture young children every day while parents are at work. Through FREE education, materials, and personalized supports, we help caregivers build confidence, strengthen their skills, and create safe, enriching spaces where young children can learn and grow.

FFN caregivers are the grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, family friends, and neighbors who step in with love to care for little ones. We’re here to walk alongside them, offering resources and connection, so they feel supported in the vital role they play in a child’s early development.
Over the course of 12 weeks, the Kith & Kin Program welcomes Family, Friend, and Neighbor (FFN) caregivers into a caring and supportive space to learn, share and grow together.
Each session builds confidence and provides practical tools to help caregivers create nurturing, high-quality care within their own homes.
Caregivers explore topics such as language and literacy, child development and brain growth, creating daily routines, nutrition, and positive behavior strategies.
Along the way, they also gain FREE CPR and First Aid certification and learn how to create safe, enriching environments where young children can thrive.

Kith & Kin Program
“My name is Liliana, and I’m a Family, Friend, and Neighbor (FFN) caregiver for a dear friend whose children I care for. This program has been more than just a learning experience – it was the beginning of meaningful connections with others and a new chapter in my caregiving journey.
Kith & Kin has had a profoundly positive impact on my life. Through the program, I gained valuable knowledge on topics like brain development, ages and stages, positive discipline, language and literacy, and injury prevention – including CPR, first aid, home safety, and sleep safety. The highlight for me was becoming an FFN caregiver for someone I met in the Kith & Kin group. That connection is something I truly cherish.
I loved all the hands-on activities we did in class, both for each topic and with the children. These activities gave me practical tools that I now use every day – not only in my role as a caregiver but also as a mother. I also enjoyed making new friends and connecting with others who share the same passion for caregiving.
I’m thrilled to be participating in Kith & Kin again after two years. Each session brings new insights, and I continue to learn and grow with every topic we explore. I deeply appreciate that Candelen offers this program free of charge to all FFN caregivers. The topics are relevant, empowering, and truly life-changing!”
