Positive Guidance: Tools for Challenging Behavior

Presenter: Amanda Morgan

Saturday, October 8, 2022
Presentation: 9:00 - 11:00am MST (Arizona Time)

Challenging behaviors can quickly derail your plans. But how we respond creates a powerful lesson in itself. In fact, teaching children to be socially and emotionally healthy and competent may be one of the most important lessons we weave into each day.

In this session, participants will learn how to proactively teach skills that prevent many behavior problems, while also getting tools that will help respond to the remaining challenges in healthy, appropriate, and effective ways. In addition, participants will learn to use intentional interactions to build both skills and relationships to create a more positive class atmosphere and support healthy child development.

Amanda Morgan is a proud graduate of Utah State University who holds a BA in both Elementary and Early Childhood Education and an MS in Childhood Development. She has a wealth of experience in classrooms ranging from preschool to sixth grade and has taught in private, public, and migrant schools. In addition, she currently teaches preschoolers and works as a consultant and trainer for a nonprofit children's organization. She enjoys teaching other teachers and parents about child development and teaching strategies. Amanda and her husband, Steve, are parents to four boys. Her other interests include children's literature, running, cooking, baking, reading, traveling, and finding a good bargain.
